RSA Academy Tipton: September 2018 – Present

Teacher of Computer Science

I currently work at the RSA Academy in Tipton teaching ages 11-14 programming, e-safety and networks as part of the OCR GCSE Computer Science Curriculum. I am also required to perform duties and assist in enrichment programmes offered by the school.

Holyhead School: June 2018 – July 2018 (School Placement 2)

Computer Science Teacher Trainee

As part of my School Placements at Birmingham City University, I continued my placement 2 module at Holyhead School where I continued to teach computing to ages 11-18. I focused on careers and programming with KS3, networks with KS4 and the Internet of Everything with KS5 as part of the Cambridge Technical Level 3 qualification.

Heart of England School: January 2018 – May 2018 (School Placement 2)

Computer Science Teacher Trainee

As part of my School Placements at Birmingham City University, I worked at Heart of England School with years 7-12 (ages 11-17) teaching them programming, spreadsheets, cyber security and the Von Neumann Architecture in line with the OCR Computer Science GCSE. I also taught Object Oriented Programming to year 12 in line with the OCR A Level Computer Science curriculum.

As part of the School Experience Programme, I visited Perry Beeches 4 and helped teachers within the school deliver their lessons and assisted students when they encountered difficulty on any set tasks.

Data Entry Assistant (February 2017 – July 2017)

As a Data Entry Assistant, I entered information that students have filled into their mid-module evaluations. I also link these forms to the relevant modules and send the completed reports to the module coordinator.

Conversion Calling Assistant (January 2017 – July 2017)

As a Conversion Calling Assistant, I call applicants of my course to BCU. I answer general questions for them such as the student life at the university and book them onto Applicant Visit Days when requested.

As a Student Academic Partner, I helped lecturers within research projects. The project I was mainly involved in was to develop and deliver a student support pack for students with learning difficulties such as Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.

Working as a First Aider, I deal with any first line medical assistance that is required. I am trained with the British Red Cross and I can provide basic life support such as CPR, dressings and restraints such as slings or protective equipment.

Checkout Team Leader (April 2016 – July 2016)

Similar to the Services Support Assistant position, I dealt with customers requiring help on the checkouts, car park, cafe, dry cleaning and kiosk. I also assist the Team Managers with the closedown, change runs and some of the administration work. The main difference with the Team Leader position and the Support Assistant’s position is that I also deal with personnel issues such as appraisals, disciplinary and general staffing issues.

Working as a Services Support Assistant, I deal with customers requiring help on the checkouts, car park, cafe, dry cleaning and kiosk. I also assist the Team Managers with the closedown, change runs and some of the administration work.

Grocery Sales Assistant (November 2013 – June 2015)

As a Grocery Sales Assistant, my main task during my shifts are to restock the shelves, reduce damaged items and process goods not for resale. I also help customers locate items that they require.

Trolley Assistant (November 2012 – November 2013)

A Trolley Assistant collects baskets and trolleys around the premises and ensures that they are both clean and safe for the next customer. I also had to work to tight deadlines during the evening to ensure that the next team could continue the work in a safe and clean environment.

The Parish of Keresley with Coundon – Children’s Workforce Children and Youth Worker (April 2014 – Present)

As a Children’s Worker within the church, I helped lead several of the groups on a Sunday morning and during groups in the week. My main role was to plan and lead the Pathfinders group on a Sunday morning which involved me playing the guitar and doing Bible study with the group. I also assisted with the equipment during the summer schools lead by the church.

ICT Assistant Volunteer

As an ICT Volunteer, I assisted with the computer equipment used around the centre. Established and ran weekly basic ICT training course for members, increasing attendance by 200% whilst developing excellent communication and teaching methods.
